Grand Canyon University

The school was established as a not-for-profit organization in 1949 in Prescott. Arizona Southern Baptists felt the need to set up a religious establishment that would permit neighborhood Baptists the chance to get a lone ranger's or graduate degree without going east to one of the Baptist schools in Texas or Oklahoma. On October 8, 1951, Grand Canyon College migrated to its present area in Phoenix.
